Company History

Firehouse Guitars was founded in November, 1997, by Tim Adrianson and Matthew Chilvers. Quickly outgrowing the initial store location in Wyoming, Michigan, the store moved into a larger, more prominent location in Grandville, Michigan. The retail store served as the company headquarters until 2005, when all administration offices were moved to Jenison, Michigan. In 1998, Firehouse purchased Del's Music Center, a longstanding fixture in downtown Holland, Michigan. Shortly following, stores were opened in Kentwood, Michigan, and Conyers, Georgia (suburb of Atlanta). In June, 2003, the Kentwood, Michigan store was moved to a larger location in Muskegon, Michigan.

November, 2004 was a milestone for the company with the launch of GearTree.com, a national-scale e-commerce retail operation.

November, 2005 marked the addition of the 5th brick & mortar store, in Decatur, Georgia.

Currently Firehouse Guitars employs over 50 people and operates 6 wholly owned stores: 4 in West Michigan (including GearTree.com), 1 in Conyers, Georgia, and 1 in Decatur, Georgia.
